M.U.M Holds 2nd AGM: Elects New President for the Union

A new President for Musicians Union Maldives (M.U.M) has been elected at the Union’s 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on the 12th of March 2021, virtually through Zoom.



Ahmed Shiham, a Founder of the Union was elected as President of the Union after receiving 100% of votes from a quorum of more than 25% of regular Union members.


The meeting was announced after the first elected President of the Union, Mr Ibrahim Waheed had to resign due to being classified as high-risk for COVID-19 and not being able to be physically engaged in running the Unions activities during this difficult time.


An opening address for the meeting was made by the Vice-President Mahran Majid.


During the meeting, Hamza Khaleel, Secretary General of the Union presented a Progress Report of the Union outlining the work done so far since the establishment of the Union. Future Plans and Upcoming Projects were also proposed. Members were also given the opportunity to discuss any Union related matters.


The meeting ended with a concluding speech from Ahmed Shiham, the newly elected President of the Union. Mr Shiham conveyed his gratitude to the Union, expressed his contentment in relation to the accomplishments of the Union so far and commended the Executive Committee for their hard work.


The Union would like to congratulate Ahmed Shiham and wish him all the best in his new role. Mr Shiham is a reputable drummer who has a myriad of experience in the music industry of Maldives. As one of the Founding members of the Union, he has already made countless contributions to the birth and growth of the Union. The members of the union have great confidence in Shiham as an ideal candidate for the role.
